Hi Trevor, I'm a bit confused how this new Affiliate program works. Are you now charging for us to have Networks? If so then we have to charge players to be in our network and then we get a 20% commission from you if they pay our membership fee? Also, what if we don't charge our members to be in the network? This would force us have to charge fees to players that are honestly very reluctant to paying any fees.

Yes. There are now network fees. But, the fees are small. For example, fees for a network of 25-75 members are only $4.99 a month. If you break it down, that is only $0.80 to $2.40 a year per member.

If you refer someone who starts a network, you receive 20% of all network fees collected.

I would like to know if the network fee is so small why bother collecting it at all? If you need money to run this website you can ask people to donate it.

Why collect it? Well, because a lot of small payments ads up.

Also, we did ask for donations. And some people did donate. But it was never enough. In order to continue adding features, and maintaining the site, this was really the only option we were left with.

Honestly, I never saw the donation box on this website.
maybe if you advertised your donation goal as wikipedia (very noticeable) does it would have been easier to get money.

A 6-month 7.00/mo plan is cheaper than a 12-month 5.00/mo plan. So how does a 6-month plan work? Do we have state which months we're gonna use the network?

Basically, you prepay for the total duration. So, the more months you pay for, the cheaper per month it is. Keep in mind, you can change the plan at anytime. So if you need more members later, you can use any credit you have to upgrade.

Hey Trevor,

I definitely understand having to collect fees. My issue is the players in my ladder, some are heavily involved and many have not even played one match yet. Do you have a fees page so I can decide how many players to keep and/or delete from my network and can players pay you direct for our network so I don't have to collect fees? I'm thinking of asking our core group of players to pay $5 for the year and just allow the others to stay in for free. That way we could stay in your system and still allow new players to come on board for free. Thoughts?

You can collect fees for your network. Just go to your "Edit Network" page.

Once you set up a fee, you view/manage the payments status "Members" page. You can also delete network members.

You will see the prices if you click "Update" link under the "Network Plan".

I think asking for $5 a year is a good idea.

I might consider the idea of just allowing admins to defer payments to the GTN. Maybe $1 to $5 per member, per year, would just go to the GTN.

That way, you wouldn't have to collect a fee. What do you think of that? How much do you think it should be? Something like that, might just work.

P.S. It would be good if players could just submit GTN fees through the network site. I have no interest in collecting mandatory fees from each and every player. The admin could decide what to do about who pays and who doesn't, kick them out of the league, keep them in, etc. As payments come in, you could just leave them as network credits until the admin decides what package to purchase.

One thing to mention here, is if you have a PayPal account, all you need to do is put in your PayPal email address to collect a yearly network membership fee.

That also means that the members should have paypal accounts?

Back to my earlier question, what I meant was, how do the 6-month subscription work. If I prepay for 6 months, when does it start and what happens as far as accessing the website? If the period is from May to October, does it mean we can no longer submit score, challenge etc after October?

If you do 6 months (which would start immediately), and do not renew at the end of the six months, all your ladders/tournaments/leagues, will complete, and no more scores can be submitted.

You will see a FAQs link in your network menu on the right. That may answer more of your questions.

Are the network fees free until you have 25 players or more? I don't see any fees listed for under 25 players.

Yes. It is free up to 25 players.

I removed people from my network that are not playing. Do I also need to remove them from my ladder?

You may want to. Just because when they go to the ladder, they will be asked to re-join your network.
