I already replied about the "looking for play" feature. Our players look for opportunities to climb on the ladder. This is not possible with the "looking for play".
The other features I suggested are implemented in other ladders I also played, a few years ago. It is not something that we invented... They really help.
It is not that I don't like the ideas, it is just that the features you have suggested are not simple to implement. Not to mention, there has been no other requests from any other ladder admins for them. I am trying to build features that everyone needs and will use. The to-do list is getting pretty long. I have to prioritize based on the needs of everyone.
I'm really looking forward to test that new feature!
I actually requested something similar in a separate thread, where I was asking if the "max pending challenges" could be set for each player (it would be THEIR choice on how much they want to play VS a whole ladder parameter). But I'm sure it would have been quite difficult to implement...
This solution should help my ladder a lot, because we have many players of all calibers, with different availability to play. With a fixed number of pending challenges, if someone who cannot play too much, gets challenged by 3-4 people in one week, they had to to decline them (with penalty) or request to cancel challenges, which could become a burden on the ladder admin (my group had 95 players last year). On the other hand, people who wanted to play a lot, were stuck because if they challenged too many people (to the max pending limit), they could not be challenged, or vice-versa.
So really, having 2 limits now will create MORE opportunity for playing, NOT LESS! If you had a max pending challenges of 4, now you can set it to 3 incoming, 3 outgoing, which means 6 pending challenges! In my case, I will probably set it to 1-2 IN and 3-4 OUT, so that people are not overwhelmed by incoming challenges. Also, by setting a lower number for incoming vs outgoing, this will force people to challenge others if they want to play, instead of sitting on their butts and waiting for challenges... That should actually make things more dynamic! I had that issue a lot last year, where it was always the same people waiting, and the same, challenging.
So yeah, I'm all for more "flexibility" when certain parameters affect a whole ladder!
