We are a non-profit Community Tennis Association affiliated with USTA-Texas and promoting tennis in Southern Brazoria County, Matagorda County, and other areas along the Texas Gulf Coast South of Houston. After the demise of four active country clubs since the 1990's, we've been slowly-but-surely rebuilding tennis in our local area since 2015, and for 2018 we are planning our first full slate of leagues, ladders, and other events. Dear Gulf Coast tennis player, we need you! Please join us today!
Current GCTA Highlights:
The Inaugural Gulf Coast Cup challenge starts with June 16 with the first of five tournaments throughout the summer. Players will play for individual awards as well as points for their city team (Lake Jackson, Sweeny, Angleton, Freeport, Bay City and West of the Brazos). Team practices start the first week of June. Open to intermediate and advanced players aged 9 - adult. To sign up, check the tournaments section of this site and/or attend the practices sessions for the team nearest you. Tournaments dates are June 16, June 30, July 14, July 28, August 11
Beginners Lessons: Tuesday and Thursday at Jasmine Park in Lake Jackson.6 p.m. - 8 p.m. We offer beginner instruction for all ages and skills from friendly, knowledgeable volunteers who are registered providers in the USTA's "Net Generation" program.
Ladder Mondays -- 7 p.m. at Brazosport College. If you're a competitive-minded singles player, come on out and pick up a match. Most players who participate are signed up in our Open Singles ladder which YOU can join any time as well. (Top players on Dec. 31 2018 will receive a prize that we have not yet named. Anticipating what the prize will be (and when we are going to announce what it is) might be as much fun as winning it. (Note: kids in our growing junior program have learned that "prizes" are often just paper clips. We in the GCTA really do play just for the love of the game. :))
