About the PTPA

Jul 13th 2023

The Peninsula Tennis Patrons Association, Inc., is a nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to stimulating interest in tennis activities on the Peninsula (Hampton, Newport News, Yorktown, Williamsburg, Gloucester) and surrounding area in Southern Virginia.

PTPA encourages amateur young persons and adults to play tennis as a leisurely physical fitness and family activity. From incorporating weekly tennis leagues for all ages to coordinating exciting tournaments for all levels of play, the PTPA's primary goal is to get EVERYONE on the courts to have a good time.

Since 1968, the PTPA has supported local junior tennis programs designed to encourage amateur tennis at a young age. Programs are constructed to promote amateur tournaments and encourage competition and tennis instruction for the youth of the community. Likewise, the PTPA provides many opportunities for adults to participate in tennis activities, whether at a beginning or an advanced level.

Through the years, the PTPA has sponsored clinics, tournaments, and tennis instruction at recreational facilities. It has provided rackets, balls, court time, and coaching to hundreds of individuals who would otherwise not have had the opportunity to experience the sport of tennis.
