MIT Tennis Ladder 2008 is a tennis league in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Welcome to the MIT tennis ladder for 2008. I hope you enjoy the new ladder format. To play, register with this site... and sign up on this ladder. Note that only other ladder members can see your phone number and email if you choose to post it. If you wish not to post your phone number, type something else.
* We will be using the 39-point ranking system, please see below for these rules. It is very similar to the old system.
*Note that this ladder is for all ranges of abilities including 1.5. However, until the ladder settles out, please challenge people who have similar USTA playing levels.
* You are allowed to challenge someone up to 10 positions higher (or lower) on the ranking list. If you are new to the ladder, seed yourself by challenging anyone of similar USTA playing level regardless of rank differential.
* If the person challenged doesn't respond within 5 days the match is considered lost and the challenger can post a winning score on this site. Remind him/her via email before calling the match.
* Set up a time and place for the match if the challenge is accepted.
There are 12 MIT courts at Amherst Alley and Endicott St., Cambridge. reserve phone (2 days in advance): 617-253-9485. Sign up the day before on the tennis shack at the courts. http://mitathletics.cstv.com/facilities/duponttennis.html
The 4 courts next to walker memorial offer a nice view of the Boston but are in poorer condition. They can be reserved in an East Campus dormitory lobby.
* Note that matches can be played anywhere not just in Cambridge.
* Play a match (best of three sets) and post the result on this site.
* If you are unable to play for a few weeks, please update your availability status in your profile. People who are 'unavailable' cannot be challenged. NOTE, the availability option has not been implemented yet, so until that is ready, please list the weeks you will be unavailable in your profile phone number.
