MIT Tennis Ladder 2009 is a tennis league in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Welcome to the 2009 MIT Tennis Ladder. We are using the same site and ladder format as last year. If you didn't play... with us last year, you will need to register with this free site. Note that only other ladder members can see your phone number and email if you choose to post it.
To register, you will need to enter your USTA playing level. A description of USTA playing levels can be found here.
http://www.usta.com/leagues/custom.sps?iType=931&icustompageid=1655
*Note that this ladder is for all ranges of abilities from absolute beginner 1.5 to former professional 7.0. However, until the ladder settles out, please challenge people who have similar USTA playing levels.
* We will be using the 39-point ranking system, please see below for these rules. It is very similar to the leap frog style.
* You are allowed to challenge someone up to 8 positions higher (or lower) on the ranking list. If you are new to the ladder, seed yourself by challenging anyone of similar USTA playing level regardless of rank differential.
* Challenge a person via email. Each person's email address is listed on their profile. The recipient should try to respond within a few days. If the person being challenged challenged doesn't reply within a week or so, consider the match a forfeit and submit the forfeit as a score if you want. Be lenient and send a reminder email to the opponent before submitting the forfeit. There is a point penalty if you forfeit. Also the challenger should be aware in case a player is away for a period of time as indicated on their profile.
* Please update your away status in the phone number to avoid having people challenge you while away or busy for a long duration. If you are challenged anyway, simply accept the challenge and set up a time for when you return to Boston. To indicate you are unavailable and do not wish to play for a certain amount of time, list the dates you will be unavailable in the space for your phone number.
* Set up a time and place for the match once the challenge is accepted.
There are 12 MIT courts at Amherst Alley and Endicott St., Cambridge. reserve phone (2 days in advance): 617-253-9485. Sign up the day before on the tennis shack at the courts.
