Description

NTC inaugural One Point Slam Tournament - 28/03/2026
Concept and rules.
1. Aim for a maximum of 32 players or a lessor number that can be divided equally.
2. Names into a hat. Draw a name from hat and at the same time a numbered ball from the bowl. Alternatively, the draw may be randomly generated by software systems available for use. This will determine their position on the draw for the initial round.
3. This results in the grouping of pairs for the first round, e.g. 1 & 2 are opponents for the opening round.
4. Overall use normal 32 knock out tournament draw format.
5. Players toss coin to determine who decides whether to serve or receive. Lower graded player gets to select call option of “heads or tails.” Winner of toss determines whether they want to serve or receive.
6. If the winner of the toss decides to serve, then the receiver gets to decide which side of the court he serves from (deuce or advantage side). If the winner of the toss decides to receive then the server gets to decide which side of the court, he serves from (deuce or advantage side).
7. The end from which the server will serve is decided by the tournament director – chosen such that the server is not disadvantaged due to, time of day sun position (left or right-handed player), or any other reasonable reason to ensure fair play.
8. Play point. Grade 1 & 2 players are restricted to one serve. Grade 3 and below are allowed two serves so if their first serve is a fault they get a second serve. Point is played to conclusion and winner of point moves through to next round.
9. After first round we end up with16 players who move to the next round of the draw.
10. Second round sees 8 players reduced to 4.
11. Next round sees the 4 reduced to 2.
12. The last 2 play the final shoot out point.
13. Winner takes the prize and the glory.
