2026 St. James Tennis Singles Intermediate Open

Join us for the Singles Intermediate St. James Open! The tournament will run from Monday, July 6th to Monday, July 20th.

We're very excited to announce the first of several tournaments this year at St. James! We will run a Men's and a Ladies' Division, which you can select during sign-up. This tournament is intended for adult members with a maximum NTRP Tennis Rating of 3.5 (https://opentennis.net/us/ntrp). It is designed for players who generally do not win more than 2 matches in our Open club tournament. (Note: The Open Club Tournament will allow for Junior Members with Adult Playing Privileges). If you are unsure if you should play, please consult with Aidan.

Below is the outline for how the Singles Tournament will be run:

Registration: Starts June 20th and ends on July 4th through Global Network.

1.Timeline: Matches start July 6th and will be scheduled during the evenings and weekends until July 20th (weather dependent). When signing up, members should be available to play during these times. If you are unable to play and cannot reschedule your match before the next round, you will default the match.

2. Format: Single elimination.

3. Match Structure: Best of 3 sets. The first 2 sets will be regular sets with 7-point tiebreakers, and a potential third set will be decided by a 10-point super-tiebreaker. All tiebreakers require a 2-point margin. A no-ad format will be used.

4.Booking: Courts will be scheduled for 1.5 hours to accommodate this format. Warm-ups will be limited to 5 minutes.

5.Draws: We will post all match times along with the draw during the initial scheduling.

6.Rescheduling Procedure: If the scheduled time is an issue for you, please follow this procedure:

a. Inform Aidan at aidanrfennimore@gmail.com as soon as you foresee a scheduling conflict.

b. Please do your best to be available during tournament windows.

c. Participants who do not follow this communication process will be defaulted.

7.Cap: Registration will be capped at 32 players.

8.Draw Creation: Aidan will be managing and making the draws.

9.Tennis Balls: Each player is asked to bring a fresh can of balls to the tournament. You can purchase balls at St. James with cash. After each match, the winner will take the unopened can forward to the next round.

10. The winner of the match is in charge of posting the final score on Global Tennis Network of emailing Aidan with the final score.
