Tennis Ladder Description
SJTA 2014 -2015 winter season ladder.
Please note the additional rules to those shown below:
1) Both teams supply a can balls. The winner gets the unopened can.
2) In the event a match cannot be played inside the 7 day challenge window because of weather conditions, then challenge will be cancelled.The challenging team's captain must notify the ladder administrator by email that the challenge should be cancelled. The challenge should be reissued if you are still interested in playing the match.
3)Disputes over challenges will be settled by the ladder committee.
4)Substitute team members are not allowed except in the case of a season ending injury.
5)Late team additions are allowed within the parameters of the team rules.
6) Teams are expected to be available to play matches. If the team is unavailable then challenges not played within the 7 day window (see below) will result in forfeits.
7) Note on Rule 16 below: we are using USTA 3rd set 10 point tiebreak.
8)Wildcard challenges cannot be used after January 15th.

10. Players may only play an opponent within 4 ranks above them, and 3 ranks below them.
11. You may only play an opponent if this player was not played in your last 2 matches.
12. Forfeits will be treated like a lost match, and will affect rankings and points.

13. Any of the following match formats can be used:
Best of 3 Sets with 3rd Set Tiebreak: Best of 3 sets is first to win 2 sets. Each set is first to win 6 or more games with a margin of 2 games. A tie-breaker is played if each team has won 6 games. The third set tiebreak can be played to any number of points as long as the winner wins more points than the loser.
Example scores: 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 or 6-3, 7-6

Leap Frog: This is the most basic and simplest ranking system. When a lower ranked player beats a higher ranked player, the lower ranked player "leap frogs" over the higher ranked player, pushing them and each player initially between them down one spot. If the higher ranked player wins, nothing happens.
15. All ladder members should maintain current contact information. If you change phone numbers or e-mail addresses, you must update your profile so other member can contact you and you will receive email notifications.
