Timmons Park

I live right up the street from this park and love being able to walk to the courts. There is a regular group of older men who play "pickle ball," and there is ussually alot of frisbee golfers, also there is a pretty substantial baseball little league that plays there during the evenings an weekends, thought I would give a little updated review. Like Jason said the park used to have its fair share of problems because of a not so nice neighboorhood behind but the park was cleaned up and is now very well maintained and used by many people and families in the area

Poor Timmons Park. Several years ago there was a big stink about this isolated haven for frisbee-golfers, because the park became a haven for illicit homosexual activity. The tiny park now has a full-time, friendly old security guard in a pickup truck to deter such goings on. I myself have only ventured into this park recently for the first time (I promise!) in the course of advertising for my tennis ladder. I have been there twice, and on both occasions I found it to feel very desolate and sad. Just my off-the-cuff take . . . maybe it lights up with activity on every other Thursday-- I don't know. But it seems a safe bet that availability on these courts is very, very good. On my 2 visits to the park, I never saw any tennis players-- I only saw a few people at all. In summary, its a lonely, wooded place, with a crazy man at the top of the hill who has been arrested for shooting frisbee-golfers with a pellet rifle, due to a land dispute. It does have bathrooms. I don't remember the backboard situation. But if you ever find yourself on a crystal perfect tennis afternoon with all other public courts full . . . my suggestion is to come here. It's perfectly fine except for its damaged reputation and isolated location.
