Tennis Ladder Rules
1. The ladder is located in:
Country: United States
State: Florida
City: Bradenton

2. The ladder is open to the following players:
Playing Level: All levels
Match Format: Singles
Gender: All

3. This ladder will begin November 24, 2009 and end September 27, 2011.

4. Players have 3 days to accept or decline a challenge before it is automatically declined.

5. Each time a team declines a challenge, they will drop 5 ranks.

6. Players can have up to 1 pending outgoing challenge at a time. This includes an outgoing challenge that has been accepted but not played. The outgoing challenge has to be completed before a new one can be made.

7. Players can have up to 1 pending incoming challenge at a time. This includes an incoming challenge that has been accepted but not played. The incoming challenge has to be completed before a new one can be accepted.

8. Players will not be penalized for not playing matches.

9. Players may only play an opponent within 5 ranks above them.

10. Forfeits will be treated like a lost match, and will affect rankings and points.

11. Any of the following match formats can be used:

Anything Goes: This will allow any score to be submitted without any validation. Not always recommended.

Example scores: 5-3, 8-2 or 21-20, 21-18

12. The following system will be used to compute a player's position on the ladder.

Leap Frog: This is the most basic and straightforward ranking system. When a lower-ranked player defeats a higher-ranked player, the lower-ranked player “leapfrogs” the higher-ranked player and takes their position. The higher-ranked player, along with everyone ranked between them, moves down one spot. If the higher-ranked player wins, the rankings do not change. For doubles matches where players are ranked individually, the same concept is applied using points. The winning players receive a new point value equal to the average point value of their opponents, which determines their new positions in the rankings.

13. All ladder members should maintain current contact information. If you change phone numbers or e-mail addresses, you must update your profile so other member can contact you and you will receive email notifications.
